Getting to know neurodivergence
Coming from a long line of neurodivergent and highly sensitive people, I have focused the past 15 years of my life to better understanding how to work with sensory processing differences and alternative perspectives on social/emotional communication. The non-traditional range of relationship structures, sexual interests, and gender expressions is well-represented in the neurodivergent community. I am open and welcoming of all the ways people show up, get curious about themselves, and seek to be the most authentic version of themselves in their relationships.
In my free time…
I can usually be found hyper-focusing on a visual project and losing track of time. I love drawing, painting, photography, crochet, sewing, gaming, and puzzling. I’ve got a couple of cats and a couple of teenage kids who keep me busy.
Training
My graduate study was done at John F. Kennedy University in Campbell, CA. I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology through their Holistic Studies Department. This specialized program delved into the mind-body-spirit connection with training in somatic and transpersonal therapies.
Process Therapy Institute in Los Gatos, CA, was the site of my foundational clinical work. It’s where I developed my skills with process-oriented psychotherapy with clients of all ages. This type of therapy emphasizes working in the here-and-now and meeting the client where they are at. I have continued to use this approach as a framework to integrate various other therapy modalities. This allows me to tailor therapy interventions to each client’s needs, directly improving outcomes for my clients.
